Hosting Study Visits and Briefings
The City of Sendai aims to ensure that its experiences contribute to disaster risk reduction efforts in cities around the world. To this end, we actively host study visits and provide briefings for government and local government officials, disaster-management practitioners, private companies, community organizations, students, and others from both Japan and abroad, in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and inter-municipal networks.
A key strength of Sendai’s study-visit program is our ability to offer tailored briefings and site visits in cooperation with relevant municipal departments. These visits cover a wide range of themes—not only disaster risk reduction but also disaster waste management, revitalization of coastal areas, and more. Through briefings and study visits, including visits to disaster remains, elevated coastal roads, and tsunami evacuation towers, we share the knowledge and experience gained through our efforts to build a disaster-resilient and environmentally-friendly city.
