SENDAI -Towards a Disaster-Resilient and Environmentally-Friendly City

Target 6 Strengthening International Cooperation

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake, Sendai City has been sharing our restoration efforts, the experiences we gained, and lessons we learned from the earthquake with the world as an affected city, so we can contribute to the world’s disaster risk reduction culture. In particular, we used hosting the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction and the adoption of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction in 2015 as an opportunity to share information and ideas at international conferences and actively receive tours and training from overseas. We will continue to use pamphlets, newsletters and the internet to share information about our efforts for disaster risk reduction both within Japan and overseas.

For information about the manual on strengthening international cooperation, see “Efforts for Making Sendai a Disaster-Resilient and Environmentally-Friendly City – Human Capacity Building – Sending Out Information through Presentations at International Conferences and Hosting Study Tours.
