8. Outcome Summary

The case report was made by three companies located in Miyagi which experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake. It was about the importance of regular preparation, quick assessment of the situation at the time of disaster, and making use of past experiences for further preparation. Cases of using strengths of each company for local contribution were also introduced and discussed.

During the panel discussion afterwards, presenters and panelists had a lively exchange of opinions about efforts on disaster prevention of the companies. They mentioned those efforts had positive effect on employees’ family’s state of mind and local community, which connects to development of the Disaster-Resilient city.

Participants listed impressions such as “We learned companies’ awareness and efforts.” ”I think we need to review our company’s efforts.”
