The City maintains an organizational climate in which the experiences and lessons learned from the disaster live on. City staff strive to make sure citizens can feel secure living where they are, by improving their own individual awareness and skills to support Sendai as a “Disaster-Resilient City”. In addition to this, Sendai, as a “Disaster-Resilient and Environmentally-Friendly City”, is committed to actively taking initiatives on disseminating the lessons learned from the disaster to contribute to the improvement of disaster risk reduction around the world.
